They are a reminder to us all that excellence should be recognised, fostered, and celebrated. The Gold Awards is an outstanding event about outstanding Wellingtonians. Long may it continue." Last year 750 people attended The Gold Awards at TSB Bank Arena with the supreme award going to Park Road Post Production. Park Road's CEO Aimee McCammon: "Winning the Golds is huge for us because Park Road has this incredible history in New Zealand. This is the academy award of Wellington. It is so nice to win in your home town." The Awards cover industry sectors ranging from content to infrastructure, from manufacturing to IT, exporting to small business. There are also two best practice awards: for sustainability and workplace safety practices Cornerstone Wellington businesses to have won their categories in previous years have been Resene Paints, Formway, MasterPet, Vega, Steel & Tube Holdings, Wedgelock, Datacom and Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferry. Emerging businesses to receive recognition have included Radiola Aerospace, Explorer Graphics, Magritek and last year, maternity lingerie manufacturers Womama. Double Cyber Gold finalist Silverstripe's Brian Calhoun: "We entered to boost our profile. Being a finalist is almost as good as winning. We knew that there were going to be lots of different companies that we would meet. It was about extending our reach beyond the typical technology companies and awards that we go to."
