On Friday 11 March 2011 – Ian Cassels had great delight in handing over the key of one of our 3 Electric Cars to Director-General Al Morrison (National Office, Wellington) Department of Conservation as a TWC Inaugural Trial Partner.

Ian specifically chose DOC as the First Inaugural Trial Partner due to the shared synergy of – Environmental Protection through Sustainable Practises adhering to the belief in reducing vehicle emissions throughout the inner city of Wellington.

The ‘Handover of Key’ happened in the back alley way of Willis Street, DOC Loading area.

As our ‘Inaugural Trial Partner’ we believe in the shared synergy of- Environmental Protection through Sustainable Practices – which adhere’s to our belief in reducing vehicle emissions throughout the inner city of Wellington.

The Wellington Company is at the forefront of providing sustainable building development and optimum building performance and we see the Electric Car as a complimentary asset in achieving our goal of providing a sustainable CBD environment.

We endeavour to support the "Compact City" performance of Wellington and see the pure Electric Car as playing a pivotal role in establishing that.

We see Electric Powered Transport, throughout the city, as a strong, clear and highly visible message to overseas visitors and New Zealanders with a continued commitment to cleaner air and a pollution free environment.

We believe that enhancements and increased efficiency of the inner city and "Golden Mile" will become essential factors for the continued success of Wellington's office market.

Ultimately we see pedestrians, Electric Cars, Buses, Bicycles and Taxis as being the only future users of the “Golden Mile" during business hours.

Ian Say’s

“the electric car was perfect for showcasing Wellington and its compactness”

“Diesel fumes and noisy motors have no place on our Golden Mile – we’re confident that the horseless carriage will now be elegant and quiet. Wellingtonian’s love walking and they will certainly appreciate the proliferation of these amiable and clever little critters”
