In association with The Wellington Company, the arts category celebrates Wellington as the cultural capital of New Zealand. Who do you know within the arts sector that is helping us to grow that reputation nationally and internationally?

TAIKA WAITITI - Arts Welly Winner - 2010

At the Qantas Film and Television Awards in September 2010, film-maker Taika Waititi scored an unprecedented triple header by winning awards for best director, screenplay and supporting actor for his movie 'Boy', which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2010. 'Boy' was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. On its release in New Zealand it received top reviews and did very well at the box office, eclipsing several records. They’re not the only awards for the movie or Taika. He is also famous for his Eagle vs Shark and contributions to the Flight of the Conchords series.
