The Wellington Company is once again sponsoring the prestigious Arts category at the Welly Awards. The Wellingtonian of the Year Awards are a celebration of the many great individuals across all sectors of the community who make our region such an exciting and vibrant place in which to live and work.
Category Winners and the 2011 Wellingtonian of the Year will be announced on Thursday 17 November at the Amora Hotel, Wellington.

Award winning photographer Peter Bush is best known for his rugby coverage - after more than sixty years behind the lens, he's been in the spotlight himself this year, with an honorary degree and an honour from the Queen.

Gareth Farr

Gareth Farr's been busy - after winning an Arts Foundation Laureate Award, he wrote the opening music for the Rugby World Cup and has received standing ovations for his piece Kaitiaki currently touring with the NZSO.

Tanemahuta Gray

Tanemahuta Gray, the creator of Maui - One Man Against the Gods, co-directed Arohanui - The Greatest Love and Kowhiti Dance 2011 at the Wellington Opera House as part of Wellington's Rugby World Cup experiences.

Suzie Moncrieff has taken a great idea to an even greater cultural phenomenon. The Brancot Estate World of Wearable Art Awards has been wowing the socks off Wellingtonians and visitors since 2005 - 50,000 of them this year.

Tom Scott makes the pompous squirm and the rest of us laugh with his cartoons, columns and commentaries - he's now producing movies. - first Separation City and this year Rage, bringing the '81 Tour back to the streets of Wellington.
